We’ve got your tap workout covered with our Tap Tonic class, now join us to polish your technique!
In these 40-minute small-group classes you’ll brush up on tap sounds, terminology, timing and rhythm without getting lost in a large-group setting. We’ll break down basic tap steps and lead a series of exercises to help you perfect each sound.
Here’s a sampling of some of the technique levels we’ve offered.
Tap Technique – Beginner I
Build up from the basics! Each week, you’ll practice a variety of technical exercises and apply them to musical concepts. In addition to breaking down the sounds, you’ll also travel across the floor and learn short combinations.
No prior tap experience required, however the pace of instruction will be designed to accommodate a range of beginners: brand-new tappers as well as those who are returning to tap after some time away.
Tap Technique – Intermediate
Time to get dancing! Utilize your tap skills to learn to learn rhythmic phrases and practice them with many different styles of music.
Participants should have at least 6-12 months of prior tap experience and feel comfortable with movements such as flaps, shuffles, brushes, digs and steps.
Attendance at technique classes is capped at around 10 students to ensure individual attention. Guarantee your spot — and save off the drop-in price — by purchasing a monthly discount pass. Drop-ins are welcome at the regular price ($13) if space allows, simply head to our online schedule to reserve your spot.
Please note that a minimum of four participants is required to hold our technique classes. For instances where we do not meet that minimum, we’ll contact anyone signed up to offer a refund for that night.
*We occasionally also offer “Tap Bootcamps” for absolute beginners and intermediate level mini-series for more experienced dancers. Please contact us if you’d like to attend a future session, and we’ll keep you posted whenever we run the next bootcamp!*
