01 Aug Record-Breaking Fun at Dance Day 2012
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came out and partied with us on Philadelphia Dance Day this July! We’re still reeling from the day.
Some of the workshops were so packed that we had to turn a few people away. We had more than 50 dancers at each of the afternoon sessions at the Y, and nearly 200 at the evening events at the Ethical Society. Altogether, workshop attendance reached a record 625! We were especially proud to see so many Philly Dance Fitness students in the crowd, many of you in colorful new shirts! We’ll post more videos and photos soon, but here are a few to start with.
We also had a record 3,632 unique visitors to the Philadelphia Dance Day website, which will stay up throughout the year so you can go back to see pictures. Come next spring, we’ll have a schedule up there for next year’s Dance Day, which will be held on July 27, 2013.
We could not have coordinated this amazing, citywide event without the help of TONS of people, and we want to thank them publicly one last time:
- Our sponsors: Snyman Chiropractors, PNC Bank, Argen-Tango Dancers and Philadelphia Runner
- Our volunteer partners: Argen-Tango Dancers, Art in Motion, Christian Street YMCA, Estilo, LAB, Major Moment Studio, Master Jay Moves/Philly Premier Pole Dance, Philadelphia Dance Academy, Studio 1831 and Socialsport Dance Club
- Our team of Philly Dance Fitness volunteers: Beverly H., Carol S., Cindy O., Jessica D., Karin M., Kirwei L., Maggie H., Nick S., Nicole W., and extra special thanks to Danielle G. who designed the programs!
- Our Philly Dance Fitness instructors, who also volunteered their time to lead workshops – Kathy and Beverly, who each had a record number of dancers crammed into Major Moment for Impact Jazz and BalletEXTREME, and Lael and Deb, who went straight from a challenging hip-hop masterclass to a huge Zumba party.
