We’re rocking into October with a cornucopia of events, from extra-freaky Frisky Friday striptease parties to a brand-new Pop Divas dance-off workshop. And, of course, we’ll celebrate Halloween with more dancing, including a Thriller master class. We’re also super excited to announce that we’ll be co-producing a Broadway-themed burlesque/variety show on Nov. 17, which means we’ve got performance opportunities for those of you who’ve been itching to get onstage! Finally, don’t forget to check out the new classes added this fall, including Cardio Pop, POUND, Dance Party Bootcamp and Hip-Hop Cardio at our Fairmount studio. Read on for the scoop, then head to our online schedule to reserve your spot in class!

Pop Divas Dance-Off
Katy Perry, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Beyonce, Niki Minaj, Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears…you get the idea. They’ve all made waves on the pop scene, now we’ll “Shake it Off” to some of their greatest hits. Join an all-star trio of Philly Dance Fitness instructors — Michelle, Lee-Ann and Brooke — for 90 minutes of nonstop hip-shaking, body-rolling, chest-popping cardio dance routines spotlighting these and more queens of pop. **Note: this workshop has been postponed until November***

Frisky Friday Striptease Dance Parties
House-Party-Fitness-19 cropPiggybacking on our diva-licious cardio workshop, our first striptease party this month will pay tribute to the one-and-only Madonna, who pushed the boundaries of what was acceptable way back in the 80s with her cone bras and sex book (and oh, how much has changed since then!) Then just before Halloween we’ll be doing our own take on “trick or treating” where you get to be the eye-candy. And we’ll give you some candy, too, because, you know, Halloween. Our September Frisky Fridays sold out, so please pre-register if you plan to attend!

    • Dirty Divas: Warm up with a mix of sassy hip-hop routines set to music from a variety of badass pop divas, then steam it up with a combination to Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”
  • Friday, October 27, 2017
    • “Tricks & Treats”: Up your striptease game with a few stripper-worthy “tricks” and techniques sure to “treat” any potential audience. Learn to wind, grind and roll off a chair, then incorporate these hot moves into a longer routine. Sexy Halloween costumes or masks encouraged!

  • $15 tickets include wine and refreshments; Members get an additional 20 percent off!

Thriller Dance Workshop
While we’re on the topic of getting freaky for Halloween, why not also take the time to polish up your Zombie walk? Tackle the dance break from Michael Jackson’s iconic ‘Thriller” music video in this extended Jazz Cardio Fusion master class led by the fabulous Trina Lyons. By the end of this 90-minute master class, you’ll be all set to show up the living dead at your next Halloween party.

New Jazz & Burlesque Performance Series

Calling all musical theater junkies who love the limelight! We’re co-producing a Broadway-themed burlesque show in November and reserving stage time for two student routines! Lee-Ann will be teaching a sassy, show-stopping number from “Chicago” featuring plenty of jazz walks, sashays and kick-ball changes. And Deb’s got a classic burlesque routine to “Big Spender” full of shimmies, bumps and grinds.

Both finished pieces will be performed at the debut “Take It Off Broadway” show, a mix of burlesque, dance and drag, held at the Ruba Club on Nov. 17. (For the burlesque routine, we’ll be stripping off gloves and other items depending on each dancer’s comfort level — so no need to worry about getting down to pasties unless you want to! The jazz routine won’t involve any clothing removal.)

No prior musical theater or dance experience required to participate – we’ve designed the choreography so that dancers of all levels can shine. But space is limited, so please pre-register if you’d like to join us in strutting your stuff onstage!

Please join us in welcoming two instructors back from maternity leave this month: Find Emily on Tuesdays in Midtown to add a little sweat into your asanas at Power Stretch & Sculpt, and Maya on Wednesdays in Rittenhouse for a funky mix of cardio and progressive Hip-Hop choreography. Huge thanks to Huda and Brittany, who covered in their absence. We’re also psyched to bring back our Sunday section of Power Stretch, which was on hiatus while instructor Asha went on a performance tour:

Power Stretch & Sculpt: Work out your weekend kinks with this intense yet low-impact post-brunch burn, 2 p.m. on Sundays in Rittenhouse (1624 South St.)

Cardio Bellydance: Challenge your mind, muscle control, balance and flexibility as you work your hips, abs, back and arms in this uptempo workout that incorporates a variety of belly dance styles.

Cardio Pop: Amp up your heart rate as you jam to pop hits past and present in this nonstop dance party. 
  • Tuesdays at 6 p.m. with Lee-Ann (Fairmount, 2511 W. Girard Ave); also offered at a variety of other times at our South Philly, Rittenhouse and Midtown studios.
Dance Party Boot Camp: Push your dance workout to the next level with explosive, athletic exercises woven into high-energy dance routines in this High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program. 
  • Wednesdays at 7 p.m. with Margo in Fairmount (also offered at a variety of other times in Rittenhouse and Midtown)

Hip-Hop Cardio: Work up a sweat following along to a nonstop series of high energy routines set to the hottest hip-hop songs.

POUND: Unleash your rock-band dreams in this full-body jam session that combines simulated drumming, Pilates, isometric poses and plyometrics.
