Come heat up the stage at our brand new student Burlesque Battle! We’re putting together three performance routines for a sexy summer throw down at Franky Bradley’s on Saturday, June 23. If you love dancing in the spotlight, now’s your chance to show off your (s)ass!
Timaree, Kyla and Deb will direct the headlining student routines in this debut show, which will also include a couple of guest appearances from local pro performers as well as a few improv dance battle interludes!
While the genre is burlesque, you get to decide how far you want to strip based on your comfort level — so no need to worry about getting down to pasties unless you want to. We’ll design the choreography so that even dancers who’d prefer to stay covered up can participate — just be aware that this will be an adult show.
As with our recent “Take It Off Broadway” shows, you won’t need any prior dance or burlesque experience to participate. But this a smaller venue so space is even more limited than usual. For that reason, we strongly encourage pre-registering for the 4-week performance series by May 15 if you’d like to join us in strutting your stuff onstage.
Rehearsals will begin the week of May 21, break the following week due to Memorial Day vacations, then resume over the first three weeks of June. The finished pieces will be performed at the “Take It Off: Burlesque Battle” show, co-produced with HoneyTree EvilEye, from 8 – 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. Please make sure you can attend all the rehearsals and the final show as any absences will impact the entire group’s progression.

Can’t make this show but still itching to perform? Stay tuned for more performance series starting in late June to prepare tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballet and pointe routines for the Philadelphia Dance Day showcase on Saturday, July 28. Also mark your calendars for the fall return of our epic “Take It Off Broadway” variety show on Friday, Sept. 28. Rehearsals for tap, jazz and burlesque routines to be featured in that show will begin in early September.
