Our Creative Dance and Zumbatomic classes described below are currently on hiatus, but please check out one of our newest offerings Mommy without Me! Zumba.
Over the past two months, I’ve received a number of requests for kids’ fitness and dance classes – something a little less formal and intimidating than a traditional dance academy program. It took a while to get all the details worked out, but I’m happy to announce the following two classes:
ZUMBATOMIC – Youth ages 6 to 13 will work up a sweat in this fast-paced, upbeat Zumba class. In Zumba, participants dance around the world to infectious Latin and International songs. No need to know any steps – just “follow the leader.” Fridays at 4 p.m. at MAC starting Sept. 24. $10 drop-in or save by purchasing a multi-class pass. In partnership with the Marian Anderson Afterschool Program.
CREATIVE DANCE – Kids ages 3 to 5 will explore a variety of music and movement styles in this introductory dance class. Using games, stories and role-playing, children will learn to express themselves through the art of movement. Parents are encouraged to join in. Fridays at 3 p.m. at MAC. A six-week series starts Oct. 15 – $50.
Both of these classes will be 45 minutes long and held in the upstairs auditorium at the Marian Anderson Center, 744 S. 17th Street. And both of them are all about FUN. There will be no criticism of technique, no recital to stress about and no pressure.
Please email us if your child is planning to attend – firstname.lastname@example.org. It’s especially important that we gauge interest in the Creative Dance class because we need a minimum of five children to offer that program.
