Frisky Fridays Girls’ Night Out!

Check out the latest news and updates about Frisky Fridays.

Grab your girlfriends and let loose for the weekend with a racy striptease aerobics party! Starting in January, Philly Dance Fitness will bring striptease back to Fitness Works – with a longer and more exciting format – on the second and fourth Friday of every month from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. (Top floor studio, 714 Reed Street).

New for 2011, the class will be expanded to create a “girls’ night out” experience. In addition to learning a sultry dance routine, Frisky Fridays will include extra time for socializing, snacks and hopefully demonstrations or free samples from local women-owned businesses.

We’ve already got some exciting surprises in store for the first Frisky Friday on Jan. 14. Space is limited, so sign up now to reserve your spot.

I’ve been thinking about this program since last fall, when I began getting inquiries from women who wanted to take striptease group classes but 5:30 p.m. was simply too early for them. (I still teach a 5:30 p.m. striptease on Mondays at Studio 1831, though it remains an intimate class because of the time). Unfortunately, most of the venues I rent were already booked solid later in the evenings, or I had conflicts with other classes.

So, I’m trying again for Fridays – this time, a little later so that it won’t interfere with work schedules but not so late so that it interferes with going out.  I’m grateful to Fitness Works for helping me make this possible.  The best part of that partnership for Fitness Works members: they get to attend for free! For everyone else, I’m trying to keep the event affordable by making it the same price as my regular weekly classes: $10 drop-in. I’ll also accept class cards, which brings the price down even more.

Please come check it out and share your feedback – especially if you have any suggestions for what kind of snacks you’d like or recommendations of local businesswomen who might be interested in sharing goodies or expertise at the event. I expect this to be a work in progress, but I think it will be great fun from the start!
