Learn a few moves that could save your life in these situations all while getting an incredible workout at our March “Fit 2 Fight To Have a Safe Life” workshop.
Since many of our students are women, we thought we’d take a departure from our usual focus on dance to present this important fitness for self-defense master class.
Developed by guest instructor Jillian Bullock, the Fighting Spirit Warriors® program helps women build the cardio conditioning and speed necessary to run away from a dangerous situation as well as the power and accuracy to fight back in a violent confrontation. Fighting Spirit Warriors® incorporates drills that work the whole body at once in order to tighten and tone muscles, especially the weakest areas for most women — arms, thighs, butt and core.
Join us for a 90-minutes on Sunday, March 24 to learn:
- Conditioning and strengthening drills to build upper and lower body muscles, as well as stability in hips, ankles, joints and feet
- Cardio exercises to lose weight and build endurance
- Martial arts and boxing drills to develop quick reflexes, coordination and accuracy
- Powerful ways to strike an attacker with your hands, knees, feet and elbows
- Techniques to fight back when lying down in case of being thrown to the ground or attacked in bed.
- Abdominal exercises that will allow you to take a hit to the stomach, if necessary, without buckling

Fit 2 Fight – Self-Defense Fitness Workshop for Women
When: Sunday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: The Performance Garage, 1515 Brandywine St.
Bring: A bottle of water and indoor shoes for the dance floor. (Sneakers used for indoor fitness are fine.) Come dressed to sweat because this is not a self-defense class – it’s fitness with practical self-defense applications.
Cost: $15 in advance or $20 the day of. Members can enjoy even deeper discounts by purchasing early: The first five super-earlybird members will get tickets for only $5 — more than half off — and the next 10 members will get theirs for $10. Discounts will be applied at check out.

Meet the instructor
Philadelphia native Jillian Bullock is a fitness and wellness expert, health advocate, motivational speaker, kickboxing and group fitness instructor, certified personal trainer and professional life coach. In addition to more than 30 years in the fitness business, Jillian is a former competitive martial artist who holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Wing Chun. She currently trains in boxing and mixed martial arts. Motivated by the sexual assault she suffered as a child, she created Fighting Spirit Warriors, a fitness for self-defense program, to empower other women to reduce their chances of becoming victims of rape and violence.
