The first month of the year flew by in a snow-filled whirl of dancing! Here’s hoping for fewer weather disruptions in February. We’re only changing a few small things on the schedule this month because we’re working on some *big* changes for March, which we will announce as soon as we finalize them! In the meantime, here’s what’s changing right now:
Bhangra Blast Moves to Thursday
We have been so impressed to see so much interest in our Bhangra class despite a week off due to a weather disruption and having subs fill in for the original teacher, who could not teach due to a family emergency. We are still looking for a permanent teacher to replace him based on the feedback we’ve received from some of you. In the meantime, Maya has graciously agreed to cover the class for the month of February at 6 p.m. on Thursday nights before her hip-hop class. Maya has learned various forms of Indian dancing since she was a little girl, and couples that with her years of experience as a fitness and Zumba instructor to create a high-energy, easy-to-follow class. In addition to North Indian Bhangra moves, Maya will incorporate lots of Bollywood flavor to create a seriously fun, high-octane workout.
We apologize for having to move this class around. Please know that we are working hard to hopefully find a more permanent home for Bhangra.
- Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 6:50 p.m.

Class Switch-aroo at Midtown
To help prepare for some changes coming up in March, we’re swapping two classes at NEST: Cardio Pop and Dance Party Boot Camp will switch places. Besiana will teach this Monday but then Lael will take over the boot camp class for the rest of the month. Besiana’s Cardio Pop class will move to Thursday but please note that it will now start 15 minutes later at 6:30 p.m. To recap, here is the line-up at 1301 Locust in February:
- Mondays: 7 p.m. Dance Party Boot Camp
- Wednesdays: 7 p.m. Zumba (no change)
- Thursdays: 6:30 p.m. Cardio Pop
NO Power Jam Stretch Tuesday
We’re putting the Tuesday Power Jam Stretch class on hold for now. The time turned out to be a bit too early for the instructor’s schedule. We are looking into some other ideas for how to offer more stretch options during the week, so stay tuned! You can also still stretch on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.
More of Your Favorite Classes Continue
The new classes we added in January will all continue, including the Tap Tonic program on Wednesday nights, the daytime Zumba at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays, Sunday morning Ballet EXTREME and Sunday Pilates. These classes are all at Major Moment, 1624 South St. To recap:
- Tap Tonic: Wednesdays at 8 p.m. No tap shoes required, but wear them if you have them!
- BalletEXTREME: Sundays at 10 a.m. (Also Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.) Wear socks or ballet slippers
- Pilates: Sundays at noon
- Zumba: Wednesdays at 9 a.m.
