Fall Schedules & Savings

We’re diving into fall with more classes, a new set of Frisky Friday workshops and a discounted Back-to-School “Dance Pass.” Read on for the details and also be sure to check our online schedule for a few reductions over Labor Day weekend.

Schedule Additions

As vacation season winds down, we’re ramping back up with the return of several classes that had been on “summer break,” plus NEW weekday daytime classes!

A Trio of Ballet Additions
Our ballet program is getting a major boost this fall with the return of our most advanced section as well as new Saturday options for absolute beginner and advanced beginner/intermediate dancers. Altogether, we’ll now have a record SEVEN ballet technique classes each week, plus 3 small group Pointe sections. If you’re new to our ballet program, start with our Ballet Basics or email Beverly, our ballet director, to discuss which level is best for you.

  • Ballet Basics — An introduction to classical ballet designed specifically for brand new dancers
    • Saturdays at 11 a.m., recently launched in late summer
    • Also still on Mondays at 6 p.m.
  • Ballet II — Perfect for those with some prior experience and a substantial grasp of classical movements
    • Saturdays at 12:15 p.m. starting Sept. 7
    • Also still on Fridays at 6:30 p.m.
  • Ballet III — Advanced technical exercises and combinations for dancers with significant prior experience.Mondays at 7:15 p.m. resuming Sept. 9
  • All ballet classes are held in the Rittenhouse studio (1624 South St). (Friday Ballet II and Pointe move to this location starting in September).
  • Also check out our ongoing Ballet I classes on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m.

Barre Fit
Step up to the barre, using ballet-inspired movements to build strength, stamina and flexibility while tightening up your core and lower body. Expect a mix of barre, core and Pilates exercises for a total body workout. If you enjoy our BalletEXTREME program, you should definitely check out this class!

BollyX
Our Wednesday night BollyX was intended to be a short summer series, but we had so many requests to keep it going that we’re extending the class through the fall! Join Deeksha to work up a sweat as you follow along to a series of high-energy cardio routines set to an infectious mix of Bhangra and Hindi beats. Burn calories and feel like a Bollywood star at the same time!

  • Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. with Deeksha

  • Also still on Sundays at 10 a.m. in Rittenhouse with Teena & Deeksha alternating months.

Cardio Pop
If you’ve got a flexible afternoon schedule, check out a brand new 4 p.m. Cardio Pop section in our Midtown studio. Even better, we’re partnering with our friends at NEST so that caregivers of small children can still squeeze in a workout! NEST staff will provide supervised activities for children ages 2.5 – 6 in their downstairs playspace while you get your sweat on upstairs. The cost is only $10/child (20% off for NEST members!)

And no need to have a child to dance, this class is open to any adults who want to get in a dance party workout before dinner. Amp up your heart rate as you jam to top 40 hits past and present in this easy to follow, beginner friendly, high-cardio program.

Cardio Wildcard
Mix up your routine with this rotating “instructor choice” class! Deb will change up the format each week to keep things fresh, from Dance Party Boot Camp to Piloxing to new programs like Strong and more! Check social media for the weekly theme.

Hip-Hop Cardio
Since our hip-hop offerings have also expanded this past year, we’re shifting Ricky’s Saturday afternoon class to focus more on cardio. Follow along to a nonstop series of high energy hip-hop moves drawing from a range of styles (house, locking, etc). Depending on interest, class may still end with a progressive choreography, but expect higher-impact moves and shorter sequences. Altogether, hip-hop fans will have SIX weekly classes to choose from this fall, from fitness focused options like this and Monday House Party Fitness, to those with a mix of cardio and technique (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday morning sections) to the more choreo/technique based class on Tuesday night.

Zumba
Ditch the workout, join the party! Zumba® fuses international rhythms with easy to follow moves so you can have a blast while getting in shape. No pattern memorization or dance experience required. Check out this brand new Friday morning section in Rittenhouse with new instructor Mikey!

Time & Location Changes + New Faces

Wednesday Time Shift
Since we’ve had requests for earlier classes, we’re shifting the Wednesday Midtown classes up by 15 minutes. Following the new 4 p.m. Cardio Pop, Zumba will begin at 5:15 pm., then Dance Party Boot Camp at 6:15 p.m., BollyX at 7:15 p.m. and Bollywood Tech at 8:15 p.m.

Friday “Studio Swap”
To streamline equipment set up and provide more space for our POUND crew, the Friday classes that had previously been held in Rittenhouse will move to Midtown and vice versa:

  • Rittenhouse — 5:30 p.m. Cardio Pop, 6:30 p.m. Ballet II, 7:45 p.m. Pointe
  • Midtown — 5 p.m. Hip-Hop, 6 p.m. Zumba, 7 p.m. POUND

New Instructors
Join us in welcoming these fantastic new and returning instructors:

  • Chenelle Boatswain, a career educator who will alternate Friday evening Zumba with Rachel Back.
  • Kyle Henry, back in action after taking a break to complete graduate school, teaching Cardio Pop on Tuesday nights while RaGina recovers from a knee injury.
  • Miguel (Mikey) Sanchez, a dance major at University of the Arts who will get you pumped for the weekend at a new Friday late morning Zumba class
  • Nick Guesto, a recent Philly transplant bringing the rock band fire at POUND.

Special Events

Frisky Friday Striptease Dance Parties

Feel sexy and empowered at our bi-monthly striptease dance parties, which include complimentary wine and refreshments. This month we’re getting down with a saucy chair routine and some blush-worthy floor work. These mini-workshops have been known to sell-out, so don’t forget to register in advance to save your spot!

  • September 13: Chair Dance feat. JLo
    • After warming up with several Latin and pop routines set to Jennifer Lopez hits like “El Anillo,” “Medicine” and more, we’ll build a saucy chair routine guaranteed to turn up the heat.
  • September 27: Video Vixen
    • Unleash your inner diva as you dance to a mix of sexy pop, hip-hop, rock and Latin music. For the grand finale, you’ll learn part of this sassy Tinashe music video choreo.
  • Both at 8:30 p.m. in Midtown (1301 Locust St, 2nd Floor)
  • $18 tickets include wine and refreshments; as always with workshops, Members get 20% off!

Take It Off Broadway — Fall 2019 Burlesque Variety Show

We know, it’s a little early to start talking about events in November. But in case some of you like to plan ahead like us, mark your calendars for Nov. 19, when we’ll host the next edition of our musical theater/burlesque variety show. We’ll be putting together student jazz, burlesque and maybe even tap routines for this incredible spectacle of dance, drag, debauchery and more. Four-week rehearsal series will begin in mid-October. Check back in mid-September for links to sign up if you’d like to join us onstage!
