Dance Into 2017 With Us

Another year of dancing done, another year ahead. As usual, we’re loading up our January schedule with MORE classes (7!), including a brand new Power Sculpt: Abs & Glutes program, plus more of our most popular classes (like Ballet & Dance Party Boot Camp), and the return of Jazz Cardio Fusion.

Ballet
We are continually impressed at the interest in adult ballet in Philly! In recent months, we added a Sunday afternoon ballet class as well as two Ballet Basics classes, but our hallmark Thursday night Beginner I section is still overflowing, so we’re adding yet another section! Join Beverly on Fridays to cap off your workweek with a comprehensive mix of technique, terminology and center floor combinations.

BollyX
Burn calories and feel like a Bollywood star! BollyX mixes heart-pumping Bollywood and Bhangra beats with high intensity interval training to create a nonstop, total body workout. After getting your heart rate up with a series of follow-the-leader routines, you’ll build choreography to “perform” as a kind of dance-battle finale.

  • Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. with Teena and Deeksha alternating

Dance Party Boot Camp
Take your New Year’s fitness resolutions to full throttle in this high intensity interval training (HIIT) dance program. We’ve already got lots of Dance Party Boot Camp on our schedule, but we’re adding a second section on Sundays to accommodate crowding at the longstanding 11 a.m. class.

  • Sundays at noon with Timaree
    • This is a repeat of the 11 a.m. class. We ask that students only attend one section to allow room for everyone.

Broadway Jazz
If you’ve always dreamed of dancing on a Broadway stage, don’t miss this small-group technique series filled with upbeat music, nonstop movement and lots of pizzazz! After warming up with a few “follow-the-leader” routines, you’ll begin stringing moves together to build a longer “show” piece rooted in “classic” jazz and “show-stopping” musical theater. We’ll break down the terminology and technique so you have more time to polish the steps without getting lost in a large-group setting. Enrollment for this beginner-friendly series is capped at eight students to ensure individual attention. You can guarantee your spot — and save off the drop-in price — by purchasing a month discount pass.

Jazz Cardio Fusion
Add some funky flair to your dance workouts in this revamped program infused with jazz, pop and even a few hip-hop movements. Unlike our JazzTech classes, the focus here is more on keeping you moving than perfecting form. Don’t let the word “jazz” intimidate you — while this class includes progressive choreography, we don’t care if you know the terminology or how many spins you can do. New routines set to popular pop and alternative music every month.

  • Saturdays at 11 a.m. with Trina **Please note that this takes the place of Zumba, which moves to 9 a.m. at 1624 South Street.

  • Moderate intensity | Advanced Beginner/Intermediate choreography level

Power Sculpt: Abs & Glutes
Tone and tighten your lower body in this brand new conditioning program. Warm up with a mix of dance and kickboxing, then progress through a series of muscle-defining exercises using your own body weight and other equipment. Some classes may also incorporate cardio or plyometrics, as well as Pilates and Yoga movements targeting the core.

  • Wednesdays at 8 p.m. with Lael

  • Moderate intensity, low/moderate impact | Beginner friendly

Power Stretch & Sculpt
Weekend stretch is back! Elongate and strengthen your entire body with this invigorating combination of yoga, dance, conditioning and Pilates. Test your balance, flexibility and strength as you flow through body weight movements in this challenging, low-impact program.

  • Sundays at 1 p.m. with Asha (and still on Tuesday nights with Emily)
  • Rittenhouse
  • Moderate intensity, low impact | Beginner friendly

Time Changes

Two existing classes will be shifting times and/or locations:

  • Now Sundays at 2 p.m. – Beginner I Ballet (Rittenhouse)
    • This class shifts to 2pm as Power Stretch and a second Dance Party Boot Camp return to the Sunday line-up.
  • Now Saturdays at 9 a.m. – Zumba (Rittenhouse)
    • By request, our longstanding South Philly Saturday Zumba class will be moving to an earlier time and a different location. Get your Zumba in with Deb or Maya before you start your day (or your leisurely brunch!), now on South Street. If you prefer to sleep in, don’t worry – you can still dance at 11 a.m. in South Philly with Trina at a new Jazz Cardio Fusion class.

Workshops

Taste of Philly Dance Fitness
Can’t decide which class to try first? Check out our annual Taste of Philly Dance Fitness workshops and sample more than eight of our signature programs in one crazy-awesome, jam-packed afternoon. It’s a great introduction to the diversity of our schedule. New for 2017, we’re adding edible “tastes” to the line-up! We’ll break up the dance fest with an array of catered munchies to energize your workout and a half-hour presentation on how to incorporate nourishing, fresh foods into your busy lives. After you’ve had your “fill” of dancing, we’ll send you home with a “foodie” bag of tasty snacks to fuel you post-workout. As in past years, we’ll have two unique “Taste” workshops since we can’t cram all of our programs into one afternoon. Even if you’ve already been to many of our classes, there’s nothing quite like these mega dance fitness parties.

  • Sunday, Jan. 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND/OR
  • Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Our South Philly location, 1170 S. Broad St (near the intersection of Federal St.)

Frisky Friday: Striptease Dance Parties
Build confidence and tone your entire body in these mini workshops featuring smokin’ hot dance routines, complimentary wine and refreshments! By the end of the hour, you’ll have an arsenal of moves that you can use with or without a lap to dance on. These workshops are usually held twice a month and pre-registration is highly recommended as they’ve been known to sell out!

  • Floor’d: Expect a mix of sassy hip-hop and downright dirty floor work
  • Burlesque: Flirt, flaunt and leave a little to the imagination as you strut through combinations suitable for any burlesque stage.
  • $15 tickets include wine and refreshments; Members automatically get an additional 20 percent off!
