At long last, the big news we’ve been hinting about is finally happening: a brand new dance floor, mirrors, barres and a full slate of classes in Midtown!
Since we started running classes at 1301 Locust Street last fall we’ve heard great feedback about the location. We’ve also taken your criticisms to heart by installing a brand new dance floor and mirrors. And we put in a pretty sweet sound system, too. Special thanks to NEST for suggesting that we try our programs there and working with us to make this shared space function as an official studio!
SEVEN brand new classes are being added to our three current Midtown classes. Our House Party Fitness classes will also move over from the Performance Garage. We’ve really enjoyed holding classes in the Art Museum neighborhood over the last three years but felt it was time to focus our schedule in the locations where we have the most consistent base of students. We’ll still hold periodic workshops at the Performance Garage, and we hope you will keep this wonderful nonprofit on your radar, too. Tons of local and visiting dancers perform here and it’s also open for rehearsal rentals. Check their website to learn about upcoming shows.
Since there’s so much happening at NEST, here’s a full breakdown of the entire schedule. All but three classes start this week, see the notes in bold about those.

Since we’re so excited about our Midtown digs, we’re doing a launch special for every class there, including the ones that have been running in past months! Come to class this week and pay only $5 drop-in for the regular classes, and $10 drop-in for ballet! (We’ll also do this launch deal for the first Wednesday Bhangra next week and the first Monday Tap Tonic and Ballet I on March 17). That’s an even better deal than your class cards, so save those for later and help us break in the new floor this week!

Impact Jazz Moves to Tuesdays
Kathy is starting a college course on Mondays, so we’re moving her class to Tuesday nights in South Philly, following Jaime’s Zumba class. Some of you have asked to have this class at a later time, so we hope this works for your schedules! We have not filled her former 6 p.m. slot on Monday nights, we’ll let you know if that changes in the future.
Bhangra Blast Now at NEST
Huge thanks to Maya for teaching this class last month while we searched for a permanent replacement. We’re so excited to announce that we will now have not one but TWO sections of Bhangra Blast! So come find out what happens when you take a traditional North Indian folk dance, then add some modern hip-hop moves, little Bollywood flavor and relentlessly high-octane music.

Yoga for Runners Master Class
In the spirit of trying new things, we’re piloting themed stretch classes. Join Emily for an extra-long yoga session geared toward loosening, lengthening and strengthening muscles used intensely in running. Spring is (theoretically) on the way, so it won’t be long now before you can pound the pavement outside. Learn tips and practical exercises that you can later use on your own when you go for a run. But you also don’t need to be a runner to appreciate the poses covered in this session. Anyone can join in. The 75-minute class will cost the same as our ballet classes of the same length: $17 drop-in, or free for members.

Piloxing on Deck
Some of you have been dancing with us long enough to remember when we had Piloxing classes on the schedule more than a year ago. Well, it’s coming back! Deb got certified last week, but she needs a little more time to practice so we’ll be launching this program in mid-March. The class will replace the 7:30 p.m. Zumba Toning in South Philly starting on March 24. Don’t despair if you love Toning, we may bring it back at some point, and it can’t hurt to try something new. In the meantime, if you love Toning, get it in the next two weeks!!
