Summer Camp

Movement, drama, fitness, dance technique, creativity and more for kids ages 5-12!

When school’s out for summer, we’ve got you covered! Whether your kid has an interest in dance & theater, or just lots of energy to burn, we’ve got a fantastic new day camp to keep them moving.

Every camp day will include dance and drama sessions, outdoor activities, games and art projects. Along with learning technique, campers will work on developing discipline, confidence, social skills and musicality in this structured, fun-filled program. On Fridays, the kids will show off what they’ve learned throughout the week at an informal 30-minute presentation.

Each week will have a unique theme, so you can sign up for multiple camps and still get a different experience. The instructional sessions will be designed for all levels — perfect for kids who are new to the performing arts as well as those coming back to learn more.

NEW! Summer Dance Intensive

Perfect for older, more focused dancers looking to amplify their technical training over the summer. Spend a week immersed in all styles of dance improving technique, learning choreography, and most of all having FUN!

Each day consists of sessions in jazz, ballet and lyrical, as well as “musical theater dance” to touch on acting and stage presence skills. Interested in taking tap too? Let us know and we’ll add it to the schedule if there’s enough interest. During a shorter “creative choreo” segment, the campers will work together to come up with their own unique routines. Just like with our other summer camp weeks, dancers will work on developing discipline, confidence, social skills and musicality in this structured, fun-filled program. They’ll also have time for movement games, outdoor activities and art projects. The dancers will show off what they’ve learned throughout the week at an informal 30-minute presentation on Friday, August 18.

Open to ages 9-12. Must have 1-2 years prior dance experience. Camp will be held from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (with options for extended programming until 6 p.m.) at our Rittenhouse studio (1923 Chestnut St, 2nd floor) with outdoor lunch breaks at nearby parks.

August 14-18 – Dance Intensive

Summer Camp FAQ

If your question isn’t here, find even more studio info on our Policies page or drop us a line and we’ll be happy to help!

What should campers wear?

Anything comfortable for movement will be perfect. It’ll be hot in the summer, so you may want to send an extra t-shirt and shorts in case we get sweaty doing dance fitness or running around outside. If your kids already have ballet or jazz shoes, those will come in handy but socks will work just fine, too. There are plenty of changing rooms at the studio.

We plan on taking the kids to a local sprinkler park each Wednesday, weather permitting. Please send your child with a bathing suit under their clothes, an extra change of clothing in case they get wet, sunscreen, and a small towel too. We’ll probably spend a few hours there playing and eating lunch and will change out of wet suits when we get back to the studio. If weather looks bad, Tuesday or Thursday will be our backup plan… we will make sure to let you know as early as possible if there needs to be a change in the schedule.

For our Dance Intensive week, dance attire (leotard, tights, and dance shoes) is recommended but not required.

Can my child register for specific classes instead of the full summer camp?

Potentially. If there’s a specific style of dance you’re looking for, please contact us. We’ll let you know when we will be offering that during the camp day and we can figure out a single-class rate for your child.

What’s the COVID policy?

To keep our everyone safe, we have implemented the following policies:

  • All staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We strongly recommend that all campers be vaccinated as well and will keep note of vaccine records during registration. If we have campers with known high risk medical conditions, we may ask any campers who are not vaccinated against COVID to wear face masks indoors so that everyone can feel safe and comfortable.
  • Kids will be asked to regularly wash hands thoroughly, and will not be allowed to share food. Our staff will disinfect all tables and high-touch surfaces on a daily basis.
  • Face masks will be optional for all participants. Note: this could change if case numbers increase and the city reverts to its former requirement for indoor masking.
  • If a student tests positive for COVID-19, they will not be able to come to the studio for the required quarantine period (currently 5 days per CDC guidelines) or until a negative test.
  • If your child tests positive after coming to camp, contact us immediately. This way, we can help trace and contain any potential outbreaks. Other participants will not need to quarantine per federal health department protocol. But we will still keep everyone informed so that everyone can be on the lookout for break-through cases. Any communication about cases will always be kept anonymous.
  • We ask everyone – parents, students and teachers – to help us reduce the spread of illness by staying home if you’re not feeling well, especially if you have symptoms that could be indicative of COVID-19.
What's the cancellation policy?

Philly Dance Fitness services are non-refundable. However, we understand that it can be difficult to figure out summer plans in time to take advantage of early bird registration deals, so we have come up with the following cancellation policy specific to camp purchases:

  • Camp registration fees are non-refundable.
  • If you opt out of camp before June 1, the amount paid (minus the $50 registration fee) can be credited to your account to use toward a different service or product, including kids or adult programs or even other future summer camp weeks. Cancellations should be emailed to info@phillydancefitness.com. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancelations on or after June 1.
  • If Philly Dance Fitness must cancel a week of camp due to low registration or an unforeseen emergency, you will be refunded in full.
  • If space is available, you may request to switch camp weeks at no charge before June 1. There is an administrative charge of $50 if requesting to transfer camp weeks on or after June 1.
