You will dance like Beyonce to Beyonce music. You will shake your jelly, a lot. And, yes, you will also twerk.
It’s all going down this November at the winter revival of our always fabulous Bootylicious Beyonce Twerkshop.
We put together our first Beyonce cardio pop/hip-hop dance workshop in spring 2013, inspired by Queen Bey’s epic performance at the SuperBowl halftime show. Since then, we’ve done variations on the theme once or twice a year, updating the playlist to include new songs and choreography. This winter, we’ll be adding a few of B’s contemporaries to the mix. Expect to hear a little Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, and perhaps a few other pop divas, alongside your favorite Beyonce hits. We’ll also be sure to include several songs from Beyonce’s latest album, “Lemonade.”
All-star trio Michelle, Trina and Deborah will lead you through 90 minutes of nonstop hip rolling, booty shaking, chest pumping, heart thumping cardio dance. We don’t even pretend to be nearly as bootylicious as the real Destiny’s Child, but we’ll do our best to teach you some of their trademark moves, as well as Beyonce’s signature hip pops and drops.
The workshop will begin with easy-to-follow routines, from “Bootylicious” to “Who Run the World (Girls)” and more. After warming up, you’ll also learn a few longer combinations. Don’t worry if you’re rusty on your body rolls and booty popping — we’ll break down the more complex choreography so that everyone can master it. We’ll also give a mini “twerktorial” so everyone can practice gluteal gyrations that would make Beyonce proud. Big booty or small, male or female, we’ll show you how to jiggle whatever junk you’ve got in your trunk.
Ages 13 and up. Space is limited to make sure everyone has room to dance. So, if you’re ready to get crazy and a little naughty, get your tickets now because this workshop has been known to sell out!
