Dance Into 2019 With Us

Another year of dancing done, another year ahead. As usual, we’re loading up our January schedule with new additions, including Belly Dance, early evening Cardio Pop and Dance Party Boot Camp, Creative Movement/Pre-Ballet series for kids and more.

We’re also welcoming back a few programs that went on a brief “winter break”: Sunday BalletEXTREME, BollyX, Diva Pop, Tap Technique and Tuesday Power Stretch. And of course, we’ve got some amazing workshops on deck: our gigantic “Taste of Philly Dance Fitness” sessions as well as brand new Frisky Friday striptease dance parties. New or Back in Action

Start off your Sunday with this invigorating combination of ballet and fitness designed to promote strength, grace and flexibility. Challenge your lower body with a nonstop sequence of plies, tendues and jumps; then finish off with core work on the mat.

  • Sundays at 10 a.m. with Beverly (also still on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.)

Burn calories and feel like a Bollywood star as you dance through a series of cardio routines filled with high-energy movements. Cap off the class with a mini “dance-battle” finale.

Cardio Belly Dance
By popular demand, we’re keeping belly dance on the schedule! But due to limited space/instructor availability, we’re only able to offer this class on three Saturdays in January, so come while you can! Work your hips, abs, back and arms in all sorts of new ways while challenging your mind, muscle control, balance and flexibility in this uptempo fusion of Middle Eastern dance.

Belly Dance Technique
Yes, even more belly dance!! If we have enough interest, we’ll also offer a small group technique class on Sunday mornings. Learn the basic movements found in Egyptian and Turkish folk dances (hip drops, shimmies, undulations and more), then translate them into a polished repertoire. This will be a progressive class and we need a minimum of 4 students to hold it, so please email if you’d like to sign up!

Cardio Pop
For those who get to leave work before dinner time, we’re adding a 5 p.m. section of this signature program to our Wednesday line-up. Amp up your heart rate as you dance along to a catchy soundtrack of pop hits, past and present. Expect high and medium intensity choreography mixed with strength moves like squats, lunges, standing abs and even arm exercises.

Dance Party Boot Camp
Take your New Year’s fitness resolutions to full throttle in this high intensity interval training (HIIT) dance program. We’ve already got loads of Dance Party Boot Camp on our schedule, but we’re adding another “Happy Hour” section at 5 p.m. on Mondays. (Our Sunday late-morning double-header in Rittenhouse also resumes so you have all sorts of extra options for getting your butts kicked!)

Diva Pop
Bring on the attitude in this pop/jazz fusion class! Warm up with a few cardio routines, then take the lead role in your own music video as you learn a progressive choreography and serve it up with a big side of pop star sass!

Power Sculpt: Core
By request, we’re adding more weekday daytime classes! Take a midday break to strengthen your abs and lower body in this challenging yet low impact fusion of Pilates, Yoga and body weight conditioning.

Creative Movement/Pre-Ballet for Kids (Ages 3-5)
Know any kids who’d like to dance? We’ve had so much fun with our fall children’s series that we’re offering two sections in January. In addition to exploring the beginning steps of classical ballet, these classes will include fun movement activities inspired by popular children’s music. Because these are short, small-group series, we request that participating children commit to attending all four weeks.

  • Sundays at 3:45 p.m. (Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27)
  • Tuesdays at 5 p.m. (Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29)

Time Changes 

With the introduction of a “Happy Hour” Dance Party Boot Camp on Monday, the rest of the Midtown lineup that night shifts back a half hour: House Party Fitness with Liz will be at 6 p.m. followed by Deb’s Dance Party Boot Camp at 7 p.m. and Barre Fit at 8 p.m.


Taste of Philly Dance Fitness
Can’t decide which class to try first? Check out our annual Taste of Philly Dance Fitness workshops and sample more than eight of our signature programs in one crazy-awesome, jam-packed dancefest. It’s a great introduction to the diversity of our schedule. To keep you fueled as you get your “fill” of dancing, we’ll also provide a spread of healthy, flavorful munchies.

As in past years, we’ll have two unique “Taste” workshops since we can’t cram even half of our programs into one session. Frisky Friday: Striptease Dance Parties
Build confidence and tone your entire body in these mini workshops featuring smokin’ hot dance routines, complimentary wine and refreshments! By the end of the event, you’ll have an arsenal of moves that you can use with or without a lap to dance on. These workshops are usually held twice a month and pre-registration is highly recommended as they’ve been known to sell out! $18 tickets include wine and refreshments; Members automatically get 20% off!
