24 May Burlesque Performance Series — Virtual Edition!

Spice up your “stay-at-home” by venturing into the world of burlesque!
Join our rock-star team of instructors to learn how to build a complete stage-ready routine over this 4-week series. In addition to group classes covering the fundamentals of burlesque movement, act design and choreography, you’ll get individualized feedback from professional mentors to help you create a solo. And, of course, you’ll have the option to perform your piece at a finale virtual showcase!
Not ready to perform? That’s cool — you can still participate in the series and just opt out of the finale. You also get to decide how much you want to strip: Stick to glove peels and outer layers, or go for pasties, whatever you’re comfortable with.
Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. for 4 consecutive weeks from June 9-30, with the showcase on Sat. July 11.

Detailed Schedule
Tues. June 9
Week 1: Burlesque Movement & Striptease Basics – with Tiel
Practice fundamental moves (from the “classic” bump & grind to body rolls and more), then dive into all sorts of glove and stocking peels.
Tues. June 16
Week 2: Act Design & Narrative Arc – with Timaree
Learn how to shape storylines and elevate a “sexy dance routine” into a complete “burlesque act.”
Tues. June 23
Week 3: Choreography & Musicality – with Michelle & Deb
Build sequences of movements to create short combinations on the floor, on a chair and standing. Play around with tempo and patterns to expand a single move into a myriad of options, and learn how to adapt your “vocabulary” of movements to suit any musical style.
Tues. June 30
Week 4: Polishing the Act – with the team
Workshop a short combination using a variety of prompts to weave in narrative and personality. Then show off the solos you’ve been working on to get feedback before the final showcase.
Saturday, July 11 at 8:30 p.m. (virtual ‘doors’ at 8)
