Pay tribute to the legendary Michael Jackson with 75 minutes of dance combinations set to hits including “PYT,” “ABC,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Wanna Be Starting Something” and more. And yes, we will learn a modified version of the famous “Thriller” routine.
As in past years, this workshop will include a mix of follow-the-leader moves plus passes across the floor and breakdowns of more complicated combinations. We’ll even break out segments of original choreography performed by the King himself.
Even though the inspiration for this workshop can no longer write new songs for us, we’ll do our part to create a few new routines for you. Expect favorites from past King of Pop Hip-Hop workshops as well as a couple of new surprises including a little throwdown to another Jackson 5 song.
The footwork and pace of the instruction will be geared toward a teen and adult audience, however, younger dancers are welcome if accompanied by an adult. No dance experience necessary. Hats and white gloves encouraged.
Come prepared to sweat. Wear comfortable clothing and dance shoes or sneakers. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water.
